Parkville Living Center Broadcasts

Broadcasts are a tool we use to share the needs and resources identified within our community and organization. Broadcasts are grouped as either needs or resources and then fall in one of three categories: Individuals, Community, Operations. Individual and Community are self-explanatory, whereas Operations are needs and resources associated with the Parkville Living Center operations.

Needs and resources are vetted through the PLC staff. To add an entry to the broadcasts, please contact marcus@parkvillelivingcenter.org or submit an entry on this form.

Item Name: Farmers to Families Food Boxes

Item Type: Individual Resource

Item Description:

These boxes are free for anyone experiencing need and include fresh produce, a few dairy products, frozen cooked meat and come with a gallon of milk.  They’ll be available first come first serve and we’ll be there for folks to pick them up between 9-11am.

This isn’t a pantry visit, it’s just to pick up a food box. Everyone is welcome.  We’ve ordered 60 boxes and of course we want them all to be taken!  (You may have seen these food boxes at our drive thru event.).  If this is a success we’ll have them for the following two Saturdays in April, too.

Liberty Fruit Company packs the boxes with fresh items the day before delivery to us and we were happy with the quality.

The Farmers to Families Food Box Program is part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program which was developed in response to COVID-19 pandemic.  The program was recently extended thru April. The SPEAC Food Pantry is happy to be a delivery site so the food boxes are easily accessible and available to the community at large.

Our story - always being written

How We Got Started

We got our start during the pandemic, out of a recognition that our immediate world is shrinking and in that is an opportunity to match community needs with community resources. As a member of Parkville Presbyterian Church, founder Marcus Flores saw opportunity where need and resources collide.

Where We Are Now

Confident of the need and the resources available, we are building a coalition of leaders, members, partners and support, to be the heart and soul of the Parkville Living Center. Read more here.
